Peanut has been ID'ed

Peanut has been identified. Well, more than identified...we know it's there, but now we know the sex!

So now I've baited you, time to build anticipation.

We went into the dr's office and had the ultrasound done. Turns out, Peanut is a bit bashful. Peanut wouldn't move in the right direction for the dr to get a clean shot at it. So in the meantime we got some ultrasound pictures of the spine. All the vertebrates look good. Then we got a foot, an arm (complete with radius and ulna) and a bit of a hand. Then we got some pictures of the face. It looks weird...just spooky looking. The dr warned us that baby faces look like Skelator, so don't be worried.

Then she (the dr) took a look at some other important spots like the abdomen, head, kidneys, bladder and apparently those all look good. So by this time the dr had hit all the spots that she wanted to check on and all that was left were the 'you know whats'. So she's looking and looking and pushing on Amanda's belly and and looking and pushing and looking and prodding and looking and then the dr revealed that she figured out what it was and double checked that we wanted to know (we weren't pressured to find out, just curious--if she could see it, okay, if not, it's okay too).

So she double checked her sighting and ...

The dr stated that she felt confident that Peanut is a ...

boy.

She pointed and showed us a leg going this way and a leg going the other way and something else hanging in between. Suddenly Peanut was being cooperative. So then she flipped the ultrasound the other way and showed us another view of what appeared to all of us to be his Talleywhacker.

Of course, we are taking this with a grain of salt. Peanut could be a trickster and very well could have been waving. Well we are waving back!

Congrats on a son!! How exciting! Will you be revealing names or keeping that a surprise?

Nope, that's all super duper hyper sensitive top secret information. But we told the doctor when she asked because we knew she was trained in the proper etiquette of reacting to baby names.

Of course, I know you would be okay...but not everyone is...and I just don't want to listen to it. I know you know what I mean.

I just thought of this today, but please oh please tell me you're not planning on burdening this boy with a name like Lan or Perrin or Rand?

We have no [real] plans for such names, I just wanted to make sure you weren't going to let your own affinity for WoT curse your son ;) Trust me, in hindsight I'm glad I never had the opportunity to use the name Parker...

That's funny! Well, I was just thinking this morning that if it turns out to be a girl, we should name her some form of Mat because of her trickery.

Those WOT names are cool, but they just don't fit into today's cool name appeal. I had a good girl name from WOT picked out, that I thought would be really cool, but Amanda keeps vetoing it. Again and again and again. We'll just have to have more kids then!

Although, Amanda did grant me permission that if we had twins that were a boy and a girl, we could name them Lucas and Ameleia, so I could have Luke and Leia.
