Week 17!

Here we are, week 17! I took another one with her shirt pulled up exposing her belly, but I wasn't allowed to post that one, even though it looks better. She still hasn't crossed the definitive line of looking pregnant or looking like she was stranded on Cadbury Creme Island with the river of 2% milk for 2 weeks. (Yes, I asked before I wrote the previous sentence and it was okayed)

This was a rough week. There was a morning (evening) sickness episode. Gross.

We had a Dr's visit too and I heard the heartbeat this time. It was pretty cool. I should have asked the nurse to measure my heartbeat or Amanda's so I could have a point of reference. Next visit is at 20 weeks where they'll do another ultrasound and try and figure out the sex.

Oh, and at the closing on our house Friday (yes, we closed, everything went well, more to come tomorrow) our Realtor told us we were having a girl because she is carrying high. That seems to be the winning feeling (vote) by about a 2/3rds margin.

Goodnight.

Week 16 belly pics and fashion show!

Hello. Here is our week 16 belly picture. Nice huh?

This week someone had a bout with morning sickness. :( That's okay, Amanda's feeding requirements are beginning to increase. She's starting to get really cranky if she doesn't get anything to eat when she snaps her fingers. Like I poof out of a lantern or something, geez.

Anyway, this weather was so nice this weekend and we went for a drive. We ended up going past Kohl's and Amanda wanted to get some maternity clothes, since now she only has 1 pair of jeans that fit and can't button any more of her school pants. So we decided to get her some new pants so that we wouldn't stunt Peanut's growth by restricting her belly. And of course she needed some new tops too since her belly pokes out of her others.

So, without further rambling, I give you the Pregnant Lady Fashion Show!! Brought to you by Kohl's buy 1 get 1 free sale (so we bought 2 of everything!).

New top and pants. The dialog we had after she tried on this shirt was pretty funny.

A: I don't like this shirt it itches.
C: I don't care, it looks nice on you.
A: But it itches!
C: So, you itch anyway. You're getting it and you're going to wear it!

Plenty of room for belly.

The shirt in this one is old, so skip that.

By this time she was pretty tired of me taking pictures of her, so I didn't get a smile on this one.

Ta da! Now post a comment and tell her how nice she looks in the new maternity clothes.

Peanut on vacation

Peanut seemed to enjoy vacation, he/she/it only made Amanda not feel well Tuesday night and semi-not so well one or two other days. Which isn't any different than how Amanda has been feeling anyway so honestly, I think Peanut was oblivious to the whole trip. The kid already doesn't appreciate anything...jeez!

Here are our week 14 belly pictures. The progress looks good to me!

We went clothes shopping today too. There sure isn't too much selection. It is funny how wide the elastic is on maternity pants. It's like 5" wide, to me that's unbelievable. That must be what makes them so expensive. Elastic must be like gold and hard to come by.

Target didn't have much and it looked bad on her. TJ Max didn't have anything. Old Navy had a few things, but we just didn't feel like paying $30 dollars for a pair of jeans she'll wear for a couple of months. It's going to get warm soon and she'll need maternity shorts, however pants, not so much. Because when the fall rolls around, she'll need pants again, but only this time bigger. So that's are issue. Plus nothing really looked nice. But, the one bright spot was that we did pick her up a black dress for the two weddings we have to go to this summer. The pain in the neck about the weddings is that they are the weekends before and after the 4th of July and they are in opposite directions from Ohio (northwest Wisconsin and DC or South Carolina). Despite those complaints, the dress looks hott (so hot multiple t's are required!).

And lately Peanut's been making her tired all of the time. At the last Dr.'s visit she said that that will persist for the next couple of months....great.

I also have read up through the chapter on childbirth in "What to Expect when you are Expecting" and there is a common theme in the book that is pretty funny. That is, expect anything and everything. I swear, every question or topic that they cover in the book is answered with some medical facts on what it is and ends with something along the lines of '...this may or may not happen to you, every pregnancy is different, so don't worry.' The book is pretty useful though.

See you later.

Here is the requisite belly picture for week 14.

That's nothing compared to these weekly pictures of a woman carrying triplets. That is absolutely awesome in so many ways.

Other than that, we just had Easter dinner at Amanda's Grandma's and she told us that she has a crib for us to use. Her Grandma's used it for both of Amanda's aunts, her mom, I think all of her cousins, Amanda and her younger siblings. That's 12 people who have used it since 1947. And it's been in storage for 23 years (Happy birthday to Lee (today), he is 23!!), so now her Grandma is ready to get rid of it. Or let us use it and give it back, we didn't get into details on possession rules, she just pointed it out to us as it sat up in the closet.

Sickness and upset stomach has been so so. Better than 2 - 3 weeks ago. She's not doing 3 meals a day of Cheerios anymore. Easter dinner went down well and I saw some green beans on there so Peanut's getting some veggies so I can't complain.

And the hormones are raging. Not that bad. Or maybe I'm just building up a tolerance to it, so as it gets worse and worse I don't notice it... Just afterwards when it subsides we realize, wow, that was a mood swing! We roll with the punches.

Bye!

baby bump

So we had a realization at our house last night. Mostly just for me. But anyway, we are sitting there up in our spare room, I'm on the computer and Amanda's just reading. She gets up to leave and I say "wait a sec" and put my hand on her stomach. Then I realize, "Holy crap!! It's hard!!" Meaning her stomach, it was like she was flexing her abs...it was weird.

Apparently, within the past day or two, her uterus has gotten hard. I think that means that the official baby bump has showed up. Bump!

So after that realization on my part, I had to spend the next minute touching it. This ended up with Amanda falling back on to the couch laughing with me trying to touch it. She kept yelling at me to stop poking it, so I ended up using just the tips of my fingers and was gripping it as if I was holding a basketball and about to throw it. No, her stomach isn't the size of a basketball, I'm describing my hand placement. All the while she's trying to curl up on the couch in the fetal position, laughing hysterically and swatting me away.

So then she goes down to get laundry and comes back up. I try and touch her belly again, this time she falls over backwards on the bed and ends up laughing so hard she chokes on her own saliva. If you didn't know it already, pregnant women salivate a lot more. Apparently enough to make them choke to death, or so it seems, if they laugh too much.

So that's that, the bump has arrived. But now I have to be careful for fear of killing my wife by touching her belly and sending her into a laughing fit that causes her to choke on her own saliva.

hello

You readers better like the fact that I was able to get Amanda to take this picture with just an undershirt on (wife beater, A-shirt, what have you). I was actually threatened to be punched by my dear wife trying to get this picture taken. And it wasn't just a threat, she pulled her fist back and everything. I wasn't worried though, she was 8 feet away.

Hopefully, we won't have any more pictures with the big bulky sweaters.

Peanut seems to be doing well. A coworkers wife has told us that she dreamed it was a boy and we'll name it Marcus. She's got a 50% chance of being right about 1 of those 2 items. Considering Peanut will have an uncle Mark, the name Marcus is out of the question. And who knows if it's a x or a y yet?

If we do find out if it is a boy or a girl, we'll be sure to let you know. However, names are top secret! Who knows, maybe we'll make Peanut official!

Oh, and the hormones are starting to rage because the mood swings are coming more often now. This week it was tears rolling down her cheeks over a story on the morning news. I'm at the point where the mood swings are considered cute. I wonder how long that will last?

Bye.
