Creed is a rip off

Chris here:

So we haven't made it through the first week of this yet. Amanda has complained that for 4 days in a row now she's hear the song "Arms Wide Open" by Creed. The song is about the lead singer finding out he's going to have a kid. It's ironic how that stuff happens. Either that, or it's ironic that now our minds pay attention to stuff like that in greater detail, because that's where our minds are wandering to.

Anyhow, so it goes.

The proof!

Just in case you didn't believe us.

So our plan is to wait until Easter to tell our families (12 weeks) and then open up this blog so everyone can read about the adventure.

However, this means being super secretive. Ukie is coming over, so we took out the trash and downloaded the pictures. Because there is always the chance we will take pictures while playing video games.

And so it begins......

Chris here:

I can't start this thing without chuckling, but I can't stop. I got my wife pregnant! Who-hoo! So we decided we'd be like other people and create a blog to chronicle this blessing. Both of us will post here and there on how this is going. We'll try to make it obvious, but mine will of course be more crass and Amanda's will be on how sick she feels.

So this morning it started with the plus sign appearing on the EPT test. Then we went to mass and then to breakfast and we decided to try and think of names for this blog here. "Toledo baby", "Rocket family", "Chugs" (combining Chicks and Hugs) and others were all vetoed. We finally settled on "Ringing in the New Year" because that's how we decided to spend our new year, trying to make our household multiply (yes, that's a shameless plug to the best man's speech at our wedding). Our overly logical and analytical minds told us that we are never going to be fully prepared for it, so we figured to just wing it and see what happens. So that's what we did for New Year's. Which was also the motivation for the party we had, one final hurrah before all the parenting stuff sucked our time away.

So far, I'm psyched about it. Believe it or not, Amanda is too. She quit having that look of sheer terror a few months back, around Halloween. We've also got some great ideas for names, but don't ask us what they are, it's TOP SECRET!

In addition to all that, her family was harassing us last night. Amanda and I were thinking that we might have conceived and her stomach had been bothering her. So we go to Sidney last night to hang out with everyone and have Christmas (since her Aunt, Uncle and cousin were in from Wisconsin) and she mentions that she hasn't been feeling well. The first thing out of her Uncle Boxer's mouth is "Is it morning sickness?" And if you know Boxer, it's just the type of thing he says. It was very funny to us, because he had it right....and I think she (or maybe even we) colored a bit over it. Then later on when we were passing out gifts, it is tradition that the youngest member of the family passes them out. Well, my mother in law and her sister were commenting on how long it's been since there have been little ones around. Then my mother in law says something along the lines of "well it's about time we have some more!" Then she puts her palm out towards us and says "I'm not looking at you, I'm not looking at you!" I look at my brother in law, Mark and he has his fingers in his ears. It was really funny to Amanda and I since we've been trying.

So now what? Amanda's going to make a dr's appointment Monday after school and I think I'll just chill out for the next 9 months. Naah, I'm kidding. We are going to go look at family cars today. Not the mini-vans yet, but 4 door sedans, baby! And we are looking to buy a house. I guess we should check out some books from the library. The only one I can think of is "What to Expect When you are Expecting". I only know that from the movie "9 months" with Hugh Grant, Tom Arnold and that red haired actress.

So that's all.
