Yosemite - Day 3

We woke up Sunday morning of our Yosemite trip to the pitter-patter of rain. Have I told you about our hotel room? Well, we stayed at a local hotel and somehow ended up in a 'room' that was it's own little .... cabin, I guess. It was a separate building and was a basic two bed room and a surprisingly large bathroom. So we could clearly hear the rain on our roof in the morning.

We packed up and headed out for one more, though short, trip to Yosemite Valley. And as we drove along the curvy road we realized that all of the cliffs and mountains were high enough that it wasn't raining but snowing.

We arrived on Friday needing to turn on the air conditioning in our hotel and left on Sunday surrounded by snow. Seriously.

It was breathtaking to see the snow and frost, the wispy clouds and the blue sky. Our point-and-shoot camera had broke at that point, so we resorted to our iPhone cameras. The pictures turned out well but I can't imagine how much better they could have been.

And let me tell you, this turn in the weather brought out every camera in a ten mile radius. Professional photographers showed up with their tripods, zoom lens and decked out in winter jackets. Tourist jumped off the bus in their capris. Here's some of our shots.

After driving around for the view, we headed to the Visitor Center. They had a museum section where the kids ran around and touched buttons and looked at the displays. Then we headed to the gift shop and where I tried to keep the kids entertained while Chris looked at books (see him in the background?).

After that we gave up and headed home. The end.
